VI · Reassessment
Skincare is not a
one-session decision.
Nothing in this session dates your last change, so there is no honest number to put here. Put a start date on a product, or log a dated check-in, and this stops being an assumption.
When it is fair to judge this
Where day 0 comes from
Nothing in this session dates day 0 yet, so these are windows rather than dates. Put a start date on a product, or log a dated check-in, and they become a calendar.
- Today · Day 0Now
Get the core routine going. Do not add a second job.
Now — day 0 is wherever you are starting from.
Day 0 exists to be a fixed point. Everything after it is readable only because you know when it started.
What would make this unreadable: Nothing observed today is a result. If the routine changes again this week, the clock starts here again rather than there.
- Week 1 · Days 5–8Not yet
Adherence and wear. Not results.
Not yet — undated, because nothing in this session fixes day 0.
A week is long enough to learn whether you will actually use this, and short enough that a reaction is still traceable to one change.
What would make this unreadable: What you like or dislike at a week is texture, sting and habit. Skin has not had time to show you anything else, so a verdict on whether it works would be a guess wearing a date.
- Weeks 3–4 · Days 21–28Not yet
Barrier or initial routine review.
Not yet — undated, because nothing in this session fixes day 0.
Three to four weeks is roughly one turnover cycle — the first point at which comfort and dryness say more about the routine than about the weather that week.
What would make this unreadable: If anything changed in the last fortnight, this window belongs to that change, not to the routine you started with.
- Week 4 · Day 28Not yet
Reassess whichever active you are using.
Not yet — undated, because nothing in this session fixes day 0.
Other / custom is why this mark sits at day 28: it is the shortest window in which this job usually shows a change worth reading.
What would make this unreadable: A verdict here covers the one thing you changed. If two things moved, this window cannot separate them and should not be asked to.
- Weeks 8–12 · Days 56–84Not yet
Longer-window outcome review when the routine stayed still.
Not yet — undated, because nothing in this session fixes day 0.
The slow outcomes — pigment, texture, photoaging — are the ones most often abandoned at week six for having failed, when they had only been asked too early.
What would make this unreadable: Only meaningful if the routine actually stayed still. A long window over a changing routine measures nothing but elapsed time.
Log a check-in
A past date records a check you have already done. A future date schedules one, and the desk will tell you when it slips. Nothing here decides that for you based on which button you pressed.
Your log
Nothing logged yet.
An empty log is the correct state on day one — it is not a gap to fill for its own sake. Pick one of the check-ins above, or add your own date and note. A routine that stays still is the point; the log is how you prove it did.
Take the dates with you
A date that only exists in this tab is a date you will miss. This writes a calendar file — all-day entries, one for each dated thing on this board — that any calendar app will import: the check-ins you logged, the reassessment windows above once day 0 is anchored, and a restock window for any product carrying a start date.
Each entry carries its reason inside it. In three weeks, a calendar entry reading “reassess” is a mystery with a date on it. Restock windows are estimates from a price and a rate rather than measurements, and they say so where you will read them. The file is built here in your browser; importing it is the only thing that leaves.
Nothing here has a date yet.
Log a check-in above, or put a start date on a product, and this becomes a file worth downloading. An empty calendar is not worth carrying about.
A baseline you can compare against
The troubleshooting board asks whether you have a baseline, because six weeks of memory is not one. Here is somewhere to keep it: a few dated photographs, with the conditions they were taken under recorded beside them, so a later pair can be compared honestly — or ruled out as not comparable, which is just as useful an answer.
Photos added here are downscaled and kept in this browser, on this device, and nowhere else. There is no account and no server to send them to: clearing this site’s data removes them, and so does the delete button on any row. Nobody but you will see them unless you show someone.
Making a pair worth comparing
- Same light, every time. Daylight by the same window is the easiest to repeat; bathroom bulbs and phone flash both change skin colour more than most routines do.
- Same time of day. Skin at 8am and skin at 11pm are two different faces, and neither is the real one.
- Same position and distance. Face on, phone at eye level, arm at the same length. A slight tilt changes where every shadow lands.
- No flash, no filters, no beauty mode. Check your camera app has not quietly turned smoothing on.
- Bare skin. No makeup, and ideally not straight after cleansing, when everything looks flushed.
A pair shot under different light will show you a difference. It will not be a difference in your skin, and it is harder to ignore than no photograph at all — which is the whole reason the conditions are recorded next to each one.
